The random babbling of Mark “Phunky” Harwood
UPDATE as usual it didn’t last very long i’ve already started playing again! My god I’d be buggered if I was a crack head… would never quit!
Well i think i might have hit a turning point, i think i have quit competitive gaming as for the first time in about 8 years i have not attempted to play any form of gaming online in a “team” or “mix” and to be honest i’ve enjoyed the time it has free’d up for me.
For anyone who has never really played at a high level you would most likely not know of the amount of time and effort it can take from a players life, gamers put in as much as 10-12hrs a day of solid practice for up coming events and who wouldn’t when thousands of pounds are on the line.
Now that i have more time i’m starting to find my passion for web development increase and im looking more and more at possible new projects, something that i’ve not wanted to even think about for a good couple of years.
I’m still not sure what im going to do, but it will more than likely keep me involved with eSports, just on the other end of things - i dont think we will see a relaunch of EuroCSS.NET but you never know, i may just go for the bigger things out there
Or maybe an Xippy Clone?!
PHUNKY derived from FUNKY, funky being an old 70's word has now been re-vamped to mean the same thing but now in punk/skater terms. Used if you think somethings good/cool.
Phunky.co.uk is the park bench for the internet tramp known as Mark 'Phunky' Harwood.
No im not really a tramp, but this place is my little crashing spot of the internet which i have been running on and off as my personal blog for a good 4 to 5 years now.
I am currently working in Steeton, West Yorkshire as the Lead Web Designer/Developer for ACORN Mobility Ltd and also Founding Director of mEm-Gaming.co.uk a UK Gaming Organization.
Thats about all i can think of right now

Hey. Always wondered how you did such a decent job of a clan/gaming website in WordPress. Being a Lead Webdesigner and Developer probably helped!
Anyway, I’m helping out over @ insidesource.co.uk and you may have noticed it’s not very pleasing on the eye. I was wondering if you had any tips or advice on creating something appealing. At the minute I’m messing around with WP on a localhost, editing good themes etc. Cheers

I’ve not really worked with WordPress for a LONG time now, but i just update this site to the latest version and i’m very impressed with it.
I only ever used WordPress for the ease of getting a site out quickly as i liked there Theme system and knew it inside out.
Good design has nothing to do with the CMS that you base the site on, its all down to the designer on that one sadly
A good site takes time to develop and evolves for its audience over time.

Hey mark, been a long time, the site looks nice (its stabby btw).
If you don’t already play poker you should really look into it, i’ve been playing a couple of years now and still enjoy every minute of it. The whole thing is pretty close to gaming imo, once you know ur regular opponents style/how they play it beomes really interesting.
Although i have to say that even though becoming a winning player took me a while there are plenty of really good training sites now that i wish i knew about when i started that will litrally teach you the best ways to play the game, sites like cardrunners.com, deucescracked.com and pokerXfactor.com.
On the subject of clansites iv been using ‘webspell’ cms for a little project im working on for a m8 and finding it really easy to use & mod. Not sure if you’ve used it b4 but you should check it out: http://cms.webspell.org/, also a decent modding site for it: boltwared.com

haha no thank god, stopped i guess about 2/3 years ago. I play a bit of wc3 dota every now and then but just as a bit of fun when iv no more movies to dl.
heh yer live reads are helpfull but you can get good stats programs now like pokertracker that basically tell you exactly the kind of player some1 is and how they play each hand, although unless ur sat playing live with a bunch of assholes its probably more fun than online
